Prop 8 denies religious protection
The first ammendment clearly states the government cannot favor any one religion, and that the people have the right to practice any religion of their choice even if that choice is to have no religion. Denying any citizen the right to marry based on a religious view violates the seperation of church and state that this country was founded on. I do however believe that churches have the right to choose who they will and will not marry. That does NOT mean the government should be allowed to deny a marriage licence to anyone because of sexual orientation that may be unfavored by a religion.
